Gingerbread House '08 - Side

This is the gingerbread house that I made this last winter. It combined the Art Nouveau aesthetic with Santa's Cottage. I'm addicted to FoodNetwork, especially the "Challange" shows. I get a lot of inspiration from them, mostly in terms of technique.

I didn't get everything finished before the roof caved in, probably from the excess moisture in the air making the gingerbread softer. But I managed to use templates of my own creation to make the gingerbread pieces, hand-pipe all the roof tiles, distress the brick pattern using royal icing, get the bay window to stand, get the four main walls to stand, fill in the windows with melted sugar, AND actually put the roof onto the whole structure.

And it was delicious.
